Kiddush

The sanctification of Shabbat over a cup of wine. It opens with the Torah's words about the first Shabbat, then the blessing over the wine you'll use all year.

Yom hashishi. Vay'chulu hashamayim v'ha'aretz, v'chol-tzeva'am.

The sixth day. The heavens and the earth were finished, and all their array.

Kiddush opens with the verse from Genesis describing the first Shabbat — the day creation was completed.
