The Amidah: Shield of Abraham
The body and seal of the Amidah's first blessing — the great, mighty, awesome God who bestows kindness (חֶסֶד), sealed “Shield of Abraham.”
Ha'El hagadol hagibor v'hanora, El elyon, gomel chasadim tovim.
The great, mighty, and awesome God, God Most High, who bestows good kindnesses.
“Gomel chasadim” — bestowing chesed, the loyal kindness you met in Ruth.
