Modeh Ani
The very first words a Jew says on waking — a short thank-you for being given another day. Twelve words, no blessing formula, easy to say by heart.
Modeh ani l'fanecha, melech chai v'kayam,
I am thankful before You, living and enduring King,
The very first words on waking — many say it still lying in bed.
